Iran’s Barzegar takes gold at World Junior, Cadet & U-21 Karate Championships
TEHRAN - Zohreh Barzegar from Iran claimed a gold medal at the World Junior, Cadet and U21 Championships 2015 on Saturday.

The Iranian athlete beat Vietnamese Camlanh Trang Camlan in the U-21 Kumite Female -55 kg final match and took a gold medal.

She started the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Carlonia Videla Toro from

Barzegar beat China’s Shangjie Chen 2-1 and Venezuela’s Yorgelis Salazar 3-2 respectively.

The athlete qualified for the final after 5-0 win over Hungary’s Lilien Vajda.

Iran has already won one silver and six bronze medals in the competition.

Fatemeh Sadeghi has claimed a silver medal at the in the Cadet Kumite Female -47kg.

Seyed Ali Karimi in the Cadet Kumite Male -57 kg, Karimi, Sara Bahmanyar in the Junior Kumite Female -48 kg,  Ali Meskini in the Junior Kumite Male -55 kg, Amir Reza Mirzaei in the Junior Kumite Male -61 kg, Miad Yari in the Kumite Male -60 kg  and Aliasghar Asiabari in the Kumite Male -75 kg  have won six bronze medals.

The championship hosted 1441 athletes from 91 countries in Jakarta, Indonesia.
