Iran to play Russia in Indoor Hockey World Cup quarters
Iran will face Pool B winner Russia on Saturday in the quarter-final round of the 4th edition of the Men’s Indoor Hockey World Cup.
Iran finished level on points with Czech Republic in Pool A but qualified for the quarters due to more wins.

Team Iran finished fourth, losing to Austria (7-2) and Germany (11-3) in the competition which got underway in Leipzig, Germany from February 4.

Iran beat Australia 8-5 in its third match but drew with Czech Republic 3-3 and lost to Sweden 10-8.

Germany, Russia and Poland are the only teams who remain unbeaten in the competition and are joined in the last eight by Austria, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and Iran.

On Saturday, Pool A runner-up Austria will face Pool B’s third placed team Poland, with Pool B runner-up the Netherlands will play Sweden, who finished third in Pool A. Pool A winner Germany butt heads with Pool B’s fourth ranked team Switzerland before Pool B winner Russia clash with Iran.

Iran finished in ninth place in the third edition in Poznan.
