Iran takes gold, silver at Karate1 Premier League
Sajad Ganjzadeh and Zabiollah Poursheib claimed gold and silver medals for Iran at the Karate1 Premier League in Okinawa, Japan on Sunday.

Ganjzadeh and Azerbaijan’s Shahin Atamov were locked at one apiece in the men's over 84kg bout before the Iranian was given the victory by the judges.

Shintaro Kuniyoshi of Japan and South African Troy Sutter won bronze medal. 

In the under 84kg, Ryutaro Araga form Japan defeated Poursheib with a trouble-free 5-1 triumph to bag gold. 

Bronze medals were awarded to compatriot Koki Kamaguchi and Germany’s Noah Bitsch.

The last Karate1 Premier League was held in Okinawa Prefectural Budo-kan, Naha from 28 to 29 November 2015. 

This second edition brought together 31 countries and 164 competitors. 

In the medals table, Japan finished in first place with 26 medals (9/6/11). In second place, Brazil finished with 3 medals (2/0/1) and Iran obtained third place (1/1/0).
