Former Iran tennis player Derafshi Javan passes away
TEHRAN – Kambiz Derafshi Javan, a former Iranian Davis Cup player and 1974 Asian Games doubles finalist, has died at the age of 61 after long battle with illness.
He was laid to rest in Tehran's Behesht Zahra Cemetery on Thursday.

Kambiz Derafshi Javan was son of Iran’s tennis father, Jafar Derafshi Javan, who died two years ago.

He reached the 1974 Asian Games men's doubles final in Tehran with Ali Madani, falling to Japan’s Kazumasa Hirai and Toshiro Sakai.

Derafshi Javan won the gold medal one year later with Mansour Bahrami in men's doubles at Asian Tennis Championship in Pakistan.

Derafshi Javan coached Iran Davis Cup team from 1997 to 2001.
