Iran’s Katayoon Ashraf collects the Golden Paddle
Iran’s Katayoon Ashraf and her colleague Anu Shrestha from Nepal, two strong women in canoe sport who fight for equity rights of women within the “Expand and Extend” project, won the the Golden Paddle.

The winners in seven categories erer revealed at the first ever World Paddle Awards (WPA) held in Augsburg, Germany only a stone-throw away from the 1972 Olympic canoe slalom venue, the Eiskanal.

Ashraf and Shrestha were rewarded for the fantastic work being done to encourage women into sport and to develop canoeing across the five continents, worldpaddleawards.com wrote.

“Thank you so much to the people who organize the World Paddle Awards. When women are together we are more powerful and thanks to paddling it's possible. Expand and Extend can make it true and it make happen for women all over the world,” Anu Shrestha said.
