Iran and Japan Olympic committees to sign MoU
TEHRAN - The Iranian and Japanese Olympic committees will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation between the two Asian countries.

President of Iran National Olympic Committee Kioumars Hashemi met with Japanese Olympic Committee president Tsunekazu Takeda on Wednesday ahead of the 66th Executive Board meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) which will be held in Tehran, Iran on Thursday.

“Japan has emerged as a power in Asia and in the world and is also considered to be a leading country in some sports,” Hashemi said in the meeting held in the headquarters of the Iran Olympic Committee.

“On the other hand, Iran is among the 20 top most powerful countries in the world. We are among the best in some events, namely wrestling and taekwondo,” he added.

Takeda also said two countries should sign Memorandum of Understanding as soon as possible to increase their cooperation on sports matters.
