Iranian shooter Khedmati takes gold medal at Gwangju Universiade
Iran’s Najmeh Khedmati claimed a gold medal in women's 10-meter air rifle at the Gwangju Universiade on Sunday.

Khedmati, the fourth placed at the 2014 world championship, beat Singapore Youth Olympics silver medalist Gabriela Vognarova from the Czech Republic to win the gold medal in 206.6 points.

Bronze medal went to Serbian shooter Ivana Maksimovic.

“I am so happy because I won the gold medal as the first Iranian female athlete at the Gwangju Universiade,” Khedmati said.

More than 13,000 athletes and officials from 145 countries have participated in the competition.
