Iran compound team beats USA to win Archery World Cup
Iran men’s national compound team defeated USA at the Shanghai 2016 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 1 in China and managed to win the title.

Iran consists of Esmaeil Ebadi, Omid Taheri and Majid Gheidi showed an impressive performance defeating USA trio of Steve Anderson, Alex Wifler and Reo Wilde 229-228.

Iran upset The Netherlands in a shoot-off and France by one point to make the final against USA.

“There was some wind and in the arena it might have blown me off a little bit,” Ebadi said.

“This isn’t the first time we have taken gold. But it is the first time we have beaten the USA. That’s a big achievement,” Gheidi said.

“We want to stay on top for a long time. We have a great relationship, the three of us, and it’s a team that thinks it can win, all the time, every time,” Taheri pointed out.

In the third-place match, Australia defeated France.
