Iran’s long jumper Arzandeh secures Rio Olympics berth
Iran’s long jump athlete Mohammad Arzandeh won a place for Rio 2016 Olympics on Sunday.

He came first with a jump of 8.16 meters to surpass the Olympic qualification mark by 0.01 at the XXVI International Meeting G Kosanov Memorial in Almaty, Kazakhstan. 

Arzandeh became Iran’s eighth athlete overall to confirm his berth for the Rio Olympics.

Ankit Sharma from India finished in first place with a jump of 8.17 meters.

Sobhan Taherkhani, also from Iran, finished in third place, jumping 7.90 meters. 

The Rio Olympics is slated to be held from August 5 to August 21.

Furthermore, Leyla Rajabi won the gold medal in the shot put with a throw of 17.40 meters.

Iranian hammer thrower Reza Moghaddam also finished in the first place with 69.20 meters.
