Team Iran congratulates Norouz congratulates Iranians across the globe on the arrival of Norouz, the Iranian New Year.

For us, the Persian New Year is very important since Iran national football team will start the 2018 FIFA World Cup in June.

Team Melli are determined to qualify for the knockout stage for the first time, where they have been drawn along with Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

Also, Iranian athletes are preparing for the 2018 Asian Games and Asian para Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

We wish all the best in New Year, especially Iranian athletes and Para athletes to do their best.

March 21 marks the first day of Spring, but for millions of people around the world it’s also the start of Norouz, the Iranian New Year or Persian New Year.

Norouz, which means “new day” in Persian, has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years, and traditionally begins the very moment that the sun crosses the equator on the vernal equinox, according to Google. The holiday has roots in the ancient Zoroastrian religion and marks the first day of the official Iranian calendar.
