Iran’s Khedmati takes Asian Air Gun Championship gold
Najmeh Khedmati from Iran snatched a gold medal at the 8th Asian Air Gun Championship in New Delhi on Monday.

In the junior category of the women's 10m air rifle, Khedmati shot an impressive 208.9 to win the gold medal with a world record score.

Her countrywoman Fatemeh Karamzadeh seized a silver medal with 208.3 shot.

Indian Shriyanka Sadangi claimed the bronze medal with 185.4.

Khedmati’s world record, though, will not be recognized by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) as the number of participants was less than the required 11 in the qualification.

"I will shoot again in Kuwait (in the Asian Shooting Championship in November) and try to win another medal with a world record. So, no regrets, I will get another chance again," a confident Khedmati says.

Iran's Elaheh Ahmadi also won a silver medal at the women's 10m air rifle with 206.6.

Singapore’s Jasmine Wei Xian Ser took gold medal with 208.1.

Bronze medal went to Indian Ayonika Paul who shot 185.0.

A total of 180 shooters from 14 Asian countries are participating in the four-day competition.
