Iran beats UAE with late winner in Asian Cup
Iran secured the top spot in Group C of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup thanks to a stoppage time winner from Reza Ghoochannejhad at the Suncorp Stadium on Monday.
Carlos Queiroz's men will now face the second placed side from Group D in Canberra while the UAE will take on the top of Group D in Sydney. Both matches are scheduled for January 23.

The UAE dominated the possession but Team Iran had the more clear-cut opportunities.

Former Charlton Athletic striker Ghoochannejhad, who came off the bench in the 71st minute, scored in the first minute of stoppage time with a header.

“I am happy because of the win but we have to concentrate on our next match. There is still a chance we play Japan, but it’ll probably be Iraq. If we play Iraq it’s up to the coach. We trust the coach that tactically, he’ll come up with very strong organization, with a good plan and we just have to do what he asks from us on the pitch,” Ghoochannejhad said.

At Sydney, Sayed Jafaar produced a stunning long-range strike in the 82nd minute to lift Bahrain to a 2-1 victory over Qatar for its first win of the tournament.
